About Stitch

Instructor / Designer - Rachel Gedemer

Rachel is originally from Racine, Wisconsin but has been calling Chicago home for the last 12 years.  She loves all dogs, anything with polka dots and of course - sewing.  Rachel first began seriously sewing after enrolling in the fashion design program at Columbia College Chicago in 2001.  While there she found her passion for fabrics, patternmaking and design.

In 2011 Rachel dusted off her sewing machine and started Stitch.  Since then she has been able to rekindle her passion for all things crafty and has loved becoming a part of the handmade movement.  Rachel likes to think her talent was inherited from her Nana - who is arguably the best seamstress around.

CFO - Steve Hueffner

Stitch would have always been just a dream without the continuous support of Steve Hueffner.  Tax accountant by day - Steve has used his savvy business background to keep Stitch on the up and up.    He has also been the guinea pig for many of the current sewing lessons being offered at Stitch.

Model / Comic Relief / Therapist - Maple

Maple was rescued by Alive Rescue and adopted by Steve and Rachel in March 2010.  She has an unwavering thirst for belly rubs, sticks and cheese.
